PROJECTS

HR HOUSE

HR House is a residential project designed for a family, with the client's main requirement being the removal of outdated elements from the previous structure. The design approach for HR House is minimalist, rooted in a concept of clarity and essentialism—removing all non-functional components while preserving the primary spatial functions. Superfluous architectural details, such as ornamental moldings and profiles, have been stripped away to maintain a focus on the core design elements, ensuring that the aesthetic quality is not sacrificed.

The ground floor is organized into distinct public and private zones, including a dining and living area, kitchen, side yard, and master bedroom. The upper floor accommodates additional bedrooms and bathrooms. The building's plan is based on a 4m x 4m modular grid, chosen for its spatial efficiency and adaptability. This square form optimizes both functional layout and spatial organization. The continuous structural system, spanning from the ground floor to the upper level, is designed to streamline the integration of utilities and enhance overall efficiency in building services.

HM HOUSE

HM House is a mixed-use residential and office complex, designed in a resort-inspired style, located on the suburban fringe. The architectural concept synthesizes tropical-industrial design elements, employing locally sourced materials such as timber, exposed brick, and raw concrete. This fusion creates a harmonious dialogue between the tactile qualities of natural materials and the clean, functional aesthetic of industrial design. HM House effectively integrates the atmosphere of an urban residence with that of a tropical villa, all within the context of modern architectural principles. The design’s primary objective is to provide a sanctuary for relaxation, serving as both a private home and a retreat space for the owner and their family.

The structure is strategically zoned into two distinct functional areas: the private residence and the office wing. The living room is articulated with a façade composed of solid masonry walls, strategically placed to shield the interior from external view, thereby ensuring privacy for the occupants. The fenestration of the building is oriented toward the side yard, which features a swimming pool and a tropical garden, creating a seamless connection to the outdoor environment. The office area is designed with direct access to the garage, featuring a separate entrance that maintains a clear circulation distinction between the private and professional spaces.

BJ HOUSE

BJ House is a mixed-use residence designed to accommodate both living and business functions. Rather than adopting the conventional shophouse typology, we created a distinctive architectural solution. The ground floor is predominantly dedicated to commercial space, while the second floor is reserved for residential functions.

The design features a separate entrance and staircase leading to the second-floor living areas, distinct from the commercial zone. This separation ensures that the residents can circulate between floors without passing through the commercial space. The circulation scheme was influenced by the traditional shophouse typologies of Singapore’s Chinatown, where private and public functions are clearly demarcated. To optimize natural light penetration, a central skylight was strategically incorporated at the building’s core, allowing daylight to flood the interior, even in the deepest parts of the plan.

Due to the building’s west-facing façade, a secondary skin was introduced to provide solar protection, helping mitigate excessive heat gain from the afternoon sun. This skin is complemented by a cantilevered balcony, which functions as an outdoor seating area while also serving as an extension of the living room. The balcony's placement behind the secondary skin offers an additional layer of privacy and passive shading.

Overall, the design of BJ House ensures a comfortable and efficient living environment, reducing energy load while enhancing visual aesthetics. The distinct spatial organization allows for seamless interaction between the residential and commercial zones, ensuring the building operates efficiently without functional overlap. The solution strikes a balance between privacy and functionality.

KR HOUSE

KR House, is a private residence designed with a primary concept of responding harmoniously to its diverse contextual environment. The building is organized into two levels: the ground floor accommodates the living room, which also functions as the central communal space, while the second floor is dedicated to private areas, such as the bedrooms.

A significant design feature of KR House is the continuous application of a cohesive color palette that extends from the exterior façade to the interior spaces. This approach enhances the building's visual integration with its surroundings, while also reinforcing the overarching design philosophy. Black-painted brick is employed as the secondary cladding material for the exterior, serving both an aesthetic and protective function. This material choice aligns with the design’s conceptual intent of shielding the interior from external environmental factors while creating a strong, unified exterior expression. The brickwork is meticulously arranged with attention to the bonding pattern, achieving a dynamic visual texture and a well-proportioned façade composition that emphasizes the interplay of material and form.

The selection of materials, combined with careful consideration of the brick's arrangement, not only enhances the building's architectural identity but also reflects a commitment to contextual sensitivity and functional durability.
